Original passport. This must:

  • be valid for at least six months beyond your intended entry date
  • have at least one blank visa page

Two original recent 45mm x 35mm colour photographs. These must:

  • be taken within the last month
  • be taken against a plain light background and printed on photographic paper
  • show full frontal face, have a neutral expression and your mouth closed
  • have eyes open and free from reflection or glare from glasses
  • not have hair in front of face or have a head covering (unless it’s for religious or medical reasons)

Signed and fully completed original application form. Please see attached: Botswana – Visa Application Form. 

This must be completed in black ink and block capitals. 

Signed and completed original proof of employment letter from your home employer. This must be signed by a member of your HR, or a member of your management team. If the latter, this person must be at least a manager grade and/or at least the same grade as yourself, and must be aware of your trip.

Please see template attached: Botswana – Proof of Employment letter. Alternatively, the letter must include the following information:

  • Addressed to the ”’The High Commission of Botswana in London”.
  • Letter needs to be on home employer headed paper
  • Letter need to be signed by authorised signatory of the home employer
  • Purpose of visit
  • Confirm the applicant is an employee of the company
  • Applicant’s name and nationality
  • Start date of employment and job title 
  • Passport number and DOB
  • Start & Expiry date of the passport
  • Dates of travel to Botswana and scheduled return date to work

Clear colour copy of valid flight booking and travel itinerary. 

Clear colour copy of hotel confirmation or full contact details of host in Botswana. 

Clear colour copies of your last 3 months bank statements as a proof of sufficient funds. These must:

  • show a positive balance / sufficient amount to cover the expenses during the intended stay in Botswana and for the return to the UK
  • clearly state your name, address 
Bank statements which are downloaded from the internet should be stamped/certified by the bank.

Valid proof of UK residence. This must be presented as your valid UK residency visa in your passport / in the form of a valid UK Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card. A clear colour copy is acceptable.

PROCESSING TIMES / FEES

All consular fees are non-refundable once the application has been submitted. Furthermore, the consular fees are fixed in Botswanan Pula but payable in British pounds. The exact amount charged may therefore vary due to currency fluctuation.

MOREMI GAME RESERVE

Moremi Game Reserve is a protected area in Botswana. It lies on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta and was named after Chief Moremi of the BaTawana tribe. Moremi was designated as a game reserve, rather than a national park, when it was created. This designation meant that the BaSarwa or Bushmen that lived there were allowed to stay in the reserve. Some prominent geographical features of the Reserve are Chiefs Island and the Moremi Tongue. In the Moremi Reserve one can experience excellent views of Savannah game as well as bird-watching on the lagoons. There are also thickly wooded areas, which are home to the Cape wild dog (Lycaon pictus pictus) and leopard. To the northeast lies the Chobe National Park which borders the Moremi Game Reserve. Although just under 5,000 square kilometres (1,900 sq mi) in extent, it is a surprisingly diverse reserve, combining mopane woodland and acacia forests, floodplains and lagoons. Only about 30% of the reserve is mainland, with the bulk being within the Okavango Delta itself. Moremi Game Reserve, although not one of the largest parks, presents insights and views even for the most experienced of travelers. It is home to nearly 500 species of bird (from water birds to forest dwellers), and a vast array of other species of wildlife including Cape buffalo, Angolan giraffe, black rhinoceros, lion, elephant, hippopotamus, zebra, cheetah, hyena, jackal, impala, and red lechwe.

ST MARTIN'S ISLAND

St. Martin's Island is a small island (area only 8 km2) in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal, about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula, and forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. There is a small adjoining island that is separated at high tide, called Chera Dwip. It is about 8 kilometres (5 miles) west of the northwest coast of Myanmar, at the mouth of the Naf River. The first settlement started 250 years ago by Arabian sailors who named the island 'Jazeera'. During British occupation the island was named St. Martin Island. During the First Anglo-Burmese War between the British and Burmese empires in 1824–1826, rival claims to the island were a major factor. The local names of the island are "Narikel jinjira" which means 'Coconut Island' in Bengali, and "Daruchini Dwip" which means "Cinnamon island" in Bengali. It is the only coral island in Bangladesh.It is also the southernmost part among Extreme Points of Bangladesh. Most of the island's approximately 3,700 inhabitants live primarily from fishing. The other staple crops are rice and coconut. Being very common on the island, algae are collected, dried, and exported to Myanmar. Between October and April, the fishermen from neighboring areas bring their caught fishes to the island's temporary wholesale market. However, imports of chicken, meat and other foods come in from the mainland Bangladesh and Myanmar (Burma). As the centre and the south are mainly farmland and makeshift huts, most of the permanent structures are around the far north. During the rainy season, because of the dangerous conditions on the Bay of Bengal, the inhabitants have no scope to go to the mainland (Teknaf) and their life can become dangerous. There is a hospital on the island, but in the past there has often been no doctor.
